After many hours of searching, a police officer has located a missing 2-year-old boy in the woods, earning widespread admiration throughout Serbia for his act of heroism. The attention to detail and dedication of the police force serve as testament to their commitment to the safety and well-being of the community.
The search for another missing child, who vanished on March 26 at 13:45 in Banjsko Polje, has extended into its eighth day, with unclear information on the fate of the child. Nevertheless, all available resources have been deployed, and the police are making every effort to find the child.
Nearly two years ago, another case had shaken Serbia when a young boy, aged 2, from the village of Donja Bela Reka near the city of Bor, had been reported missing. After intensive searching, the boy was found alive and well by Uroš Petrović, a policeman from Bor. The child was initially playing with his brother in their house’s yard before he wandered off into a nearby forest.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Serbia commented on the joyous occasion, stating on their official Facebook page on May 7, 2022, «To the delight of all, our member found him in an uninjured state. The greatest reward for us is seeing that parents can be worry-free and trust their police force.»
Police officer Petrović recounted his experience, «We received information that a two-year-old child was lost in the forest. My colleague and I entered the dense woods, thinking only of how to find the child as quickly as possible. The forest was difficult to navigate, so we proceeded slowly. At every step, I called out the boy’s name. We knew it was a small child and were afraid of the dangers he could face. As time passed, my fear grew, concerned something bad may have happened to him.»
