The opening of the new «La Cocoș» supermarket in Brașov has been postponed. Despite offering salaries above the retail average and attractive bonuses, there seems to be a lack of interest from potential employees.
The supermarket was initially set to open within the Brintex Complex in Bartolomeu on January 24, 2025. «La Cocoș» is still hiring for various positions at this location. The company promises a stable work environment with daily challenges and corresponding rewards. They emphasize the importance of a dedicated team in their continuous business growth.
They are currently looking for cashiers and commercial workers with at least 12 months of experience. The company offers a gross salary of 7.10 lei, with meal tickets included, worth 840 lei. Bonuses are also promised for Easter, Christmas, birthdays, March 8, and June 1.
The new store will occupy an area of approximately 10.0 square meters and is expected to be set up in the Brintex commercial complex. The opening was initially announced for October, then postponed to December, and at the beginning of this month, the company announced that the opening will take place on January 24, 2025.
«La Cocoș» is the first independent player in the Romanian food sector that achieved sales of approximately 1 billion lei in 2023 with its three hypermarkets, two in Ploiești and one in Bucharest. The company, established in 2012, has 615 employees, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year.
Since 2014, «La Cocoș» has set a standard through the specific placement of products, the use of distinct price models, and a unique display system, including price levels for each product, depending on the quantity purchased. The company’s pricing policy, «The Bible of La Cocoș», has been the basis of the retailer’s success, as it requires an average markup of 10% for all products sold.
The company aims to become the first Romanian food retailer to reach a turnover of 1 billion euros per year with its three stores, two in Ploiești and another in Bucharest. The European Bank for Development (EBRD), together with CECAT Capital and Morphosis Capital, made a strategic investment to support the national expansion of the «La Cocoș» retailer, taking over 56% of the company’s shares. This investment will be used for the rapid development of the store network, with a clear objective to open another 12 locations under the «La Cocoș» brand.
The plan is for the network to reach a total of 15 stores in various cities in Romania by 2029. The «La Cocoș» retailer also aims to become the first company in the Romanian food trade to exceed the threshold of 1 billion euros in annual sales.
