Have you ever felt like you can’t stop eating? Well, there is an innovative solution for this exaggerated appetite — electrical brain stimulation, done right at home! A new study brings hope to those struggling with insatiable cravings and weight gain.
This suggests that we don’t have to abstain from eating or struggle at the gym to lose weight. There is a much simpler method!
According to the study, the participants’ episodes of uncontrolled eating significantly reduced, from 20 times a month to just six. Moreover, those who took part in the experiment lost an average of 4 kilograms in just six weeks. But what does this electrical brain stimulation consist of?
Mild brain stimulation aims to change behaviors that lead to loss of control over eating. The procedure uses a helmet equipped with electrodes. «Our study is the first to offer an option for a treatment that can be done at home, not just in clinics or hospitals,» explained Dr. Michaela Flyn, a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience in London and the author of the study.
Participants reported an increased state of relaxation, which also led to weight loss, effects that persisted even after the treatment ended. Dr. Flyn added: «Our results are encouraging and we want to test this method on a larger sample of people».
