The head of IPJ Cluj, Mihai Rus, is alleged to have switched places with his wife after being caught driving at 120 km/h in Cluj. According to judicial sources, he did this in an attempt to avoid being recorded in the traffic police records for excessive speed. After being stopped by the police, he is said to have immediately switched places with his wife so that she would be the one recorded in the police documents.
However, this plan did not work, as the police officer had already noticed a man driving the car. Following this, Mihai Rus is said to have insisted to officers from the Cluj Traffic Directorate that his wife be recorded in the official documents instead of him.
Mihai Rus, the nephew of the former Minister of Interior during the Năstase regime, Ioan Rus, will reportedly be taken to the DNA Cluj headquarters for questioning regarding these matters. His mobile phones will also be seized for a digital search.
Alongside him, the officer whom the head of IPJ Cluj insisted on falsifying the documents will also be questioned at DNA Cluj. This is to ensure that the official does not appear with incidents in the traffic history.
Searches are currently being conducted at the IPJ Cluj offices. Mihai Rus, the current head of IPJ Cluj and nephew of former Interior Minister Ioan Rus, is under investigation for alleged corruption. Judicial sources confirm that these searches are being conducted to document and prove these allegations.
